Photography has always interested me.  From my Kodak Instamatic at the age of 8, to the world of digital.  My earliest memory is taking photos of every cactus seen on a family vacation.  I can still remember my father commenting, "$17.00 for cactus photos?" when we picked up the developed photos at the drug store.  My family saw photos as important.  A favorite quote of mine is:

”If you don't think photographs are important, wait until they are all you have left.”

- Missy Mwac

Having moved on from cactus I still haven't nailed down my path of photography, but maybe when I grow up.  Drawing the viewer in by capturing details or different views of objects we look at every day but don't see creates interest and thought and is my goal.

Henry Thoreau states it perfectly:

“The question is not what we look at, but what we see.”

Black and white is what I lean toward when the subject matter works. Visualizing in black and white in hopes of being successful. As a black and white image must stand on its own because there is no color to distract the viewers.

My favorite place is the coast of Maine and I have taken several workshops in Maine and Wisconsin. But honestly my favorite place is behind my camera.

Not formally trained in art or photography, and consider myself mostly self-taught, I work with what I have been given, with Lightroom and Photoshop to help along the way.
