Bruce was born and raised in Louisville, KY, moved and finished high school in St Louis MO, and completed a BS in Fishery Biology at Colorado State University. A fathers love of wilderness took the family on camping and canoeing trips in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Canada during his boyhood. On those trips, he developed a fondness of natural things. After college and the army, his wanderlust took him to Australia for two years of working and travelling.

When we came to Brandon, we moved into an old house with a big back yard full of trees in need of thinning. I started cutting the dead, dying and damaged trees. Unfortunately, many were butternut and walnut, the wood much too nice to burn. I started making things.

I enjoy the whole process of wood shaping, from cutting the tree to using the wood to make tables or shaping animals, I am not yet "one with the wood" but it does help me along. I do not try to hide cracks, wormholes, blemishes or other flaws. I like the look of wood grain and use mostly natural finisher and stains.

The BAG accepted me as an artist and provided a place to show my work. I can only hope that folks viewing "my creations" enjoy then half as much as I do when making them.

I have always enjoyed nature and working with wood.

I have no gallery, just a garage and a woodpile.
