A lifelong interest in nature and painting have quite naturally led me to become an avid pleinair painter. I like to work directly from life, observing and recording my perceptions. For me painting has become a sort of meditation, it is an act of paying homage. I love to paint in part because it is a constant process of discovery and learning. There is a quote by Albert Einstein that says “Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.” Painting has taught me to look deeply at nature and it continues to shape my understanding of it and I am grateful for that. Thank you for taking the time to view my work.
I received my BFA from the School of the Chicago Art Institute in 1983 and my MLA from NCSU in 1993.
