Melonie Bushey

Melonie first sat down to a sewing machine at the age of nine and has been involved with fiber in its many forms ever since. Sewing is a huge part of her daily life with a special affinity for doll making. Rug hooking came about fourteen years ago when a friend gave her a small kit for her birthday. That too has become integral in feeding her creativity. Melonie has a special interest in the history of fiber crafts. This interest has had a profound influence on her work. She was also a costume maker with Middlebury College’s Theatre Department where she was able to grow and develop her craft. The many aspects of fashion, education, costumes and art connect to offer a challenge with long lasting effects on future works
