THREADS! We’re touched by threads every day. We wear them, sleep on them, and are warmed, cooled and sheltered by them. For artists who use thread, fabric, and fiber as their medium, the word has yet another meaning: thread serves as their paint, clay, stone and canvas. This Fall the Brandon Artists Guild is proud to present,“Common Threads,” an exhibit of art in fabric and fiber by Althea Bilodeau Lamb and Judith Reilly.

A third-generation fiber artist, Althea Bilodeau Lamb expresses her love of fashion and color through textile creation and design. Her one-of-a-kind garments and accessories are sculpted from her own hand-dyed textiles: woven and knit fabrics of fine merino wool and silk, and a unique cloth created by hand-felting merino and silk fibers.

Raised on a farm and taught to sew from a young age, Judith Reilly has spent a lifetime wrapped in thread. A ‘life-taught’ artist, she has explored every avenue of fabric/fiber media on the road to the whimsical style she delights in today. Her bucolic background is the foundation for her love of agricultural and barn-structure themes. The catawampus approach to her fabric designs means that she is not required to answer to reality, a very liberating creative strategy. She simply cannot make a mistake.

Enjoy the beauty of common, and not so common, threads at  Common Threads: Fiber Art by Althea Bilodeau Lamb & Judith Reilly. The exhibit runs from September 9 – November 6, 2022. Meet the artists at an opening reception on Friday, September 9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Guild Gallery. Free and open to all.

The Guild gallery is open Monday-Sat 10am-5pm, Sunday 10am-4pm.
