Aidan Rose Palmer

Crafting pottery is a process I love, from the first time I touch a batch of new soft clay to the quiet, exciting time of making new work. I love working with my hands.

Much of my inspiration comes from the natural world of Vermont. From bogs and marshes with their beautiful reds, auburns, and lime greens to the plants of the springtime, like pitcher plants and orchids. Twisting trees, veins on a kale leaf, and even the twirling tentacles of an octopus are all inspirations. My work is a reflection of the wonder and majesty of the earth, from the tiniest of sea creatures to the towering giants of the forests.

My goal is to highlight the beauty of traditional, functional pottery. Each piece is crafted by hand and designed to be used for generations to come, using my own porcelain clay recipe and durable glazes.

My work evokes the whimsical, playful, and joyful.

Aidan Rose Palmer grew up in Williston, Vermont. From an early age, Aidan loved being outside and making things with her hands (everything from pounding up rocks to make paint to designing animal puppets). She began crafting ceramics after high school and is primarily self-taught. Aidan loves learning deeply and has enjoyed discovering the “behind-the-scenes” parts of being a potter, such as ceramic chemistry and the history of porcelain. In the future, Aidan envisions a revitalized crafts movement, coupled with a return to traditional, regenerative farming.
