Margaret-Désirée Mug is a prolific artist and muralist based in Poultney VT. Originally from Chicago and after living all over the US, Margaret is ecstatic to call Vermont her home. Her current body of work explores subtle beauty of our Green Mountain State. 

Margaret doesn’t want to just make landscapes. She tries to catch a moment in time, a feeling.  For instance, she doesn’t try to a draw A tree. Instead, she tries to capture THAT tree on THAT road at THAT time of day during THAT season. Sometimes this seizure happens in an instant, and sometimes she has to stalk a scene until it is just right. Often times with her phone hanging out of the car window taking video. 

Margaret believes finding a balance between chaos and order both in her style and subject matter is the essence of being a visual artist. 

When Margaret is not making art, she can be found playing bluegrass bass for Hermit Hollow String Band, Snake Mountain Bluegrass Band, and The Poultney Bluegrass Society. She also runs a local swim school called “Vermont Swim Academy”. Margaret is absolutely open to commissions. Please contact her for more information.
